Most Beautiful Mikvah In Israel

Wisdom, understanding, knowledge and... beauty.

A mikvah built by Chabad has won a nationwide government-sponsored competition for the title "The Most Beautiful Mikvah in Israel."

80 mikvahs were ranked by Israel's Ministry for Religious Affairs and the Council for a Beautiful Israel, a non-profit environmental organization that focuses on the country's urban centers.

Head of the committee of judges was Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Sites of Israel.

The outstanding ritual bath that was chosen was the mikvah in the village of Ma'ale Efrayim, run by Chabad Rabbi Menachem Mendel Glitzenshtein.

As reported last year, it was built thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Mayim Chayim Mikvah Building Fund of Taharas Hamishpacha International, directed by Mrs. Chaya Sarah Zarchi.

The donation was given by a woman who read on COLlive.com about a similar gift that was given to a Chabad mikvah in Sweden and decided to follow suit.

Her donation helped complete the mikvah which was inaugurated by then-Israeli Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar and frequented by residents of Maale Efrayim and the Jordan Valley.
